Janice Miller, is a highly recognized legal expert with 20+ years of experience in the areas of entertainment, intellectual property, licensing, real estate, hospitality and general business transactions. Her clients have come to rely on her insightful, dispute avoidance strategy as a preventive measure and appreciate the value of her extensive experience when litigation is unavoidable.
Prior to working with the Firm, Ms. Miller was the Vice President, Business Affairs for NBCUniversal’s (sm) Universal Studios Hollywood® theme park and CityWalk® retail, dining and entertainment complex. During her tenure, Ms. Miller played an important role in both the business and legal side of the company’s billion dollar expansion having also held the role of Vice President Business and Legal Affairs for more than 12 years during her almost 15 years with Universal Studios Hollywood & CityWalk and a total of over 20+ years with other Universal entities. Ms. Miller’s area of responsibility and strategic legal management covered a number of diverse legal areas from licensing intellectual property in the theme park to real estate matters on CityWalk, to ride safety issues and legislation, to managing litigation to serving executive leadership as a strategic advisor on multi-million dollars business deals including corporate sponsorships. Ms. Miller was the principle senior executive for the real estate, tenant relationships and leasing of Universal CityWalk, a 60+ tenant outdoor entertainment destination with restaurants that range the gamut from quick serve to casual to sit-down, nightclubs and retail venues.
While at Universal, Ms. Miller sat on the Board of Directors of the California Attractions & Parks Association, which she now represents. She is a noted speaker and panelist at conferences attending to matters on entertainment-based venue business affairs, theme park legislation and intellectual and licensing property management.
